Renting a chalet or rest house: what to check before booking

The right rest house or chalet makes the occasion, and rushing to book without confirming details is what most often spoils it. A few minutes of questions save you surprises on the day.

Capacity and location

Make sure the venue comfortably fits your guest count, not at its maximum. Ask about a separate family section, parking, distance from you, and ease of access.

What the price includes

• AC, electricity, and water — included or an extra cost?
• Pool, outdoor seating, kitchen, and utensils.
• Sound system and lighting for evening events.
• Cleaning before and after, and who covers it.

Deposit and cancellation

A deposit usually secures the booking and is deducted from the total. Agree in writing on its amount and the refund rate on cancellation before paying, and keep the conversation documented in the app.

Timing

Confirm the allowed entry and exit times — some places count the day noon-to-noon. Book early in peak seasons and weekends, and consider weekdays for a lower price.
