How to buy shoes in the right size online
Last updated: 2026-08-13
The biggest issue buying shoes online is size, because the same number differs between brands and numbering systems (EU/US/UK). The fix is to measure your foot length in cm and compare to a size chart.
How to measure your foot
- Stand on a flat sheet of paper and trace around your foot.
- Measure the length from the longest toe to the heel in cm.
- Measure both feet and use the larger; measure at the end of the day when the foot is slightly larger.
Rough chart (foot length → EU size)
- 24.5 cm ≈ 39
- 25.5 cm ≈ 40–41
- 26.5 cm ≈ 42
- 27.5 cm ≈ 43–44
- 28.5 cm ≈ 45–46
For used shoes, ask about the insole and outsole condition and any wear. For branded sneakers, check the logo and stitching accuracy, the original box, and the barcode — a very low price for a famous brand is a sign of a fake.
