Beware fake jobs: signs of employment scams

A job seeker is an easy target for scammers. Knowing the warning signs protects you from losing your money or personal data while looking for an opportunity.

Never pay for a job

First rule: a genuine employer doesn't ask for money. Any request for a 'hiring fee', 'deposit', or 'mandatory paid training' before work is a scam, no exceptions.

Warning signs

• An unusually high salary with no experience or real interview.
• A vague job description and unclear duties.
• Pressure to respond or pay quickly, and a push to move off-app immediately.
• A request for your bank details or verification codes (OTP) for any reason.

Protect your documents

Don't send copies of your ID or personal data before verifying the employer is real and having a proper interview. These are requested after a formal offer, not at first contact.

Verify before you trust

Look up the company's name, and confirm it has a real address and official contact. If anything feels off, stop and report the ad rather than take the risk.
